Who needs the Electronic Travel Authorization for the UK?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required for visa-exempt travelers visiting the UK, except British and Irish nationals. It applies to travelers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and other eligible nationalities you can check in the link here below. EU contries are exempted until April 2nd 2025.  The ETA must be obtained before travel for short visits, tourism, or business.

The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for the United Kingdom is a British entry authorization document that can be obtained online. It allows travelers from eligible countries to visit Britain for a variety of purposes without having to obtain a regular visa.

As of 2025, a large number of citizens of eligible countries can prepare to visit Britain via a much simpler online process – the online applying for the UK eTA.

For a significant part of UK visitors, the eTA eliminates the requirement to visit an embassy or consulate in order to obtain a travel permit. It allows potential visitors to request permission to travel to the United Kingdom in a simplified way, which also speeds up the process of entering the country and improves security at the UK borders.

Travelukpro.com is not linked to any UK government body or website. Our aim is to provide a user-friendly service for people looking for additional information on the Electronic Travel Authorization and for those wishing to apply for their online travel permit – the UK eTA.

The service fee on our website is USD 84 and it does include the UK government tax of GBP 10. Our users must be aware that they can apply directly via the UK government website – www.gov.uk.

eTA UK is a simple online travel document that allows you to travel to Great Britain.

It is not a visa, and therefore, it does not grant you entry into the country.

UK border authorities have the last say on whether to allow a person to proceed or whether they will be sent back.

  1. Security and border control – Like adults, minors need to be screened to ensure safe and legal travel. This helps prevent child trafficking and abduction.
  2. Individual identification – Each traveler, regardless of age, needs to be properly identified and documented. Even if traveling with parents, minors are considered separate travelers.
  3. Accurate passenger records – Airlines and immigration authorities need complete passenger manifests that include all travelers, including children, for safety and security purposes.
  4. Legal requirements – With the UK leaving the EU, the country’s immigration laws require every person entering the country to have proper authorization, regardless of age with no exemptions for children.
